SUMMARY:Learning OpenRefine: an approachable way to working with data
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nLead Instructor: Maricela Abarca (Data Curator for
Interdisciplinary Sustainability)\n\n\n	Location: Online via Zoom (limited
 to 30 registrants)\n	Date and Time: 3:00PM–4:00PM\, Wednesday\, July 15\,
2026\n\n\nOpenRefine is a great tool for tracking reproducible and undoable
changes to data. It’s similar to working with a spreadsheet but with a
powerful and intuitive interface that lets you visualize changes as you
manipulate data with no coding or AI involved. OpenRefine is ideal for use
on structured data\, such as bibliographic data\, Wikidata entries\, or a
database of your favorite songs. Learn some data wrangling basics like
standardizing record values\, making new columns based on current column
values\, and creating subsets of data during this abbreviated Library
Carpentry OpenRefine tutorial.\n\nNo previous experience is necessary.
Setup instructions and an example spreadsheet will be provided to
 registrants in advance.
