Intro to Data Analysis and Statistics in R
- Date and Time: 1:00PM–3:00PM, Wednesday, March 4, 2026
- Location: Room TBD, Green Library
- Lead Instructors: Dr. Alex Threlkeld (Mathematics, Statistics & Computational Sciences Librarian) & Dr. Alma Parada (Head Librarian, Branner Earth Sciences Library)
This workshop is a gentle introduction to performing basic data analysis and statistics in R for those who have moderate programming experience in R. If you know how to work with datasets (variables, matrices, dataframes) and functions in R, but want to learn more about summarizing your data, identifying patterns, and potential interactions between variables, this class is for you. We will explore how to perform descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, regression, and identify interactions between variables on example datasets.
Please ensure that R and the RStudio are installed on your computer before the workshop (you can get both here: https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/). If you know how, please install the tidyverse package, otherwise we’ll do it in class.
